On a personal note, 'Eight' reminds me a lot of Kyoko Kirigiri and that's clearly a good thing for me. I love her pragmatism and the way she puts Ikuro in his place. She's by far my favourite with Graham followed by Ikuro. I enjoyed the discussion before the vote, especially as you could really feel the tension emanating from all the characters (eh, maybe not Jude).
I'm really curious to see what happens next. Nice game.
I thought it was pretty cool so far. I'm not the biggest fan of these horror games, but I decided to give it a shot out of curiosity and was somewhat pleased. A diverse cast of characters and the idea of a killing game on a train felt like fresh air. Ikuro was hella annoying with his dickhead attitude, I won't lie, but I found myself liking him more than the rest of the cast for some odd reason. That ain't a criticism; I'm just weird like that. I couldn't begin to explain myself.
If I had a few criticisms, it would be the navigation. Though it was a little easy for me to find doors after some trial and error, I imagine some of them are having trouble. The investigation part stumped me, and I'm not proud of how long it took me to solve the problem.
There's also something with the writing that bothers me personally. I think it could use some editing because I skipped much of it. I felt like I wasn't going anywhere. It was like I was reading just to read and not learning about the world or the people around me. What's worse, once I was done skipping, it didn't feel like I missed out on much. It ain't the worst thing in the world; it just could use some editing.
Despite its faults, I hope to play more of this game of yours! To no one's surprise, it's the execution portions that got me going. I look forward to the events leading up to the games and the games themselves. What would make it cool is if you did different variations of this little trolley problem of yours (Which you're likely doing regardless, but I'll say it anyway.) No, I don't mean wildly changing the premise of the game, but the trolley problem did have variations, and I doubt it would be any fun letting the watch do all the work. IDK, I'm not you guys; I'm just spitballing here.
Overall, cool game. I thought the things on the back of their neck would explode on some Suicide Squad shit, but what you got works, too. Keep it up!
(Minor spoilers about gameplay) I really was pissed off when I found that the puzzle has nothing to do with digital rooting. To be honest, I tried for about an hour before I gave up, the actual answer was so simple that I actually felt very stupid.
I dropped you a 5-star rating. I did really enjoy doing the puzzle, even though I was stuck on it for a bit until the logic came together.
The game was out before, and I was aware of it, but I wanted to wait until you got the execution game part into the execution game. So I didn't touch this until now. And I am very interested in seeing where it goes.
I do have a couple of criticisms.
One of them is the investigation section where navigation is a bit hard to follow, I was going around in the bathroom for a bit until I learned how to get out. The train car was very samey, it did take me a while to find the book as I went into click every door as I didn't realize there were doors that I didn't try before.
The dialog can get quite long, and would benefit from some editing, and polishing stuff that is there, and slimming down. At least I found that I was skipping dialog aka hammering that mouse button until it felt like it got somewhere. Sometimes less is more, but I am not an expert writer, so take this with a grain of salt or ignore it. But, I should stress that this was a problem in the initial introduction (before kidnapping), and during the first part of talking in the execution game. Though, writing characters in that extremely heated scenario is extremely difficult, so I don't really think my complaint is too valid there.
One thing I really enjoyed was that scene where Dan casts his vote. The design and typography can use some polishing, but other than that, it is well done. But graphics should be polished later, it is an eternal hamster wheel to start doing at this phase of development.
I wish I had a couple of buckaroos to throw your way, but I don't. Sorry. So, maybe I pop in to write a couple words on next build or something. Take your time, and this is engaging stuff you're creating.
I've noticed that several possible decisions weren't made into choices. Are we gonna be able to unlock these choices later or they're there to emphasize that Dan has personality and opinions of his own and thus won't ever make such choices?
Had a ton of fun with this so far, as someone who’s played Danganronpa and 999! Hoping we’ll see more of the jackal soon, kinda love his mystery :3 though I gotta admit, I’ve been enjoying Ethan’s doofy company too
I had a blast going through the entire thing even though it was just the first build and I'm genuinely in love with every single character (specifically Jude!!!). I really don't remember the last time I got so absorbed by what I was reading so much that I forgot the passage of time. I'm really looking forward for the next build!!
I’m usually lost with vn having a huge cast, but with each character having so much personality, expressions and poses, it was very enjoyable meeting all these people!
The investigation was also very satisfying, good job for this 1st build!
played the first build, loved it, and i will keep ethan, eight, the sharks, and jude alive as long as i can, until its either them or ranoldo, in which case im keeping the president alive at all costs
Jude's gender is a mystery, as nobody's bothered to ask them (and they've never confirmed or denied pronouns). Everyone is welcome to view Jude as whatever gender they prefer to see that wacky ferret as.
Screaming crying throwing up this game is GOOD. Loving the Zero Escape-ness of it, all, but also loving the unique twists on it, like the Trolley Rule (trying to be spoiler-free!). Also Jude was meant to appeal to me specifically and I love it.
I do hope the ZE influence continues, if only because the ending scene of this first build has me close to tears and I'm so so hoping this isn't a Ninth Man scenario. But I'm super excited to learn what the fuck is happening in these folks' heads, and see the rest of the game!
What a great game! There are many details that I love. Such as the art, the music and above all, the story. Although there are some who mention that they compare it to Danganronpa. I don't see a problem with you being inspired by it (if that were the case), keep working on the story.
I'm dying to know how you will establish the mechanics of deciding who lives or who dies.
Will it be a linear story? There will be more research mechanics? I look forward to finding out in the next update!
If you're having a hard time, I posted a full walkthrough as a devlog on this page! That should help if you're having a hard time completing the investigation.
I'm loving this game. At first I wasn't sure because it doesn't have a gay tag, oh boy was I wrong, this is a hella gay furry Vn clearly inspired by other vns like The Nonary games, Danganronpa, Ace Attorney. It's 100/10, looking forward to seeing where this project is going.
All of the characters are distinguished from each other well enough and all seem interesting and fun to interact with. The puzzle gameplay is engaging and overall I'm just excited to see more of it.

Jude is literally so Neurodivergent, love them to death.
If anything ever happens to them, i'm personally kidnapping everyone in the game yet again, and putting them on Your Turn To Die-
Also, Blake is such a Sou kinnie-
(Minor spoilers about gameplay)

Now, I have a big tooth on Ethan.
(☍﹏⁰)。
Wow, the prologue of the game is big!
I loved playing it ^^ usually i skip every dialogue but not this time, i was so intrigued

Both, actually! How will you change his mind? Keep reading (future builds) to find out.
Ezekiel you're done bro, count your days
Mission start!
Days until Ezekiel's execution: Few.

OH C'MON THAT GUY WAS MY FAVORITE I LIKED HIS LIL WEIRDO SELF :[
Love this visual novel so much! And, Jude is my favorite. Small question though, what gender is Jude?
Glad you like the game!
Jude's gender is a mystery, as nobody's bothered to ask them (and they've never confirmed or denied pronouns). Everyone is welcome to view Jude as whatever gender they prefer to see that wacky ferret as.
That makes Jude all the better, love it. Thanks for the reply! Can't wait for the next update, and keep up the great work! ^w^

I need a new build 😭
Please be patient! It's in active development right now!
I will! and looking forward to it :3 I love this so far
Juuuuude, i wonder why you end up holding hands that much with them
OMG IS THAT A ZERO ESCAPE REFERENCE
Looks so good! I love the art style and plot. Looking forward to see more of this.
Netter, Mann

I can't wait to play the next build!!! I'm enamoured with this game, this is such an ambitious project I loveeee it!!!
This is *totally* not a reference to Danganronpa 🙂
"N-no, that's wrong!! Get them, Mr. Boulder!!!"
I guess we have the Toko personality using Byakuya and Makoto's lines, this should be interesting.
extremely enamored by this, 999 but with gay furries is the perfect combo for me lmao, such a strong start - can't wait to see how things progress!
I was thinking the exact same thing!!!
This was phenomenal! God, all of the characters are fantastic. The ferret is my favourite. Great work!
yah, sadly im bad with puzzles, still in the first place lol
If you're having a hard time, I posted a full walkthrough as a devlog on this page! That should help if you're having a hard time completing the investigation.
The synopsis makes me have some Valentine rain's ptsd but the art and that said synopsis got me intriged

Horsetacular
Why do i hate and love everyone at the same time
I was on the edge of my seat at the end of this first build! 😁 Xou did a really good job laying out the plot and introducing characters 😌
adorei a referencia a Brasil!
Overall, this FVN is pretty decent.

Here's my playthrough I did: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLs_BZI-CHxZxxpPpNjUWOQ19OoTBPduZN&si=AVkmKg03...

I'll have an Ethan to go...
and uh...
one passport to Brazil
with a scholarship for the University of São Paulo, please
"Of course, ursinho!
The game runs smooth and the puzzles felt balanced. Main draw is to figure out how many I let die in order to spare a goober.
i love your writing! very unique, and such cute sprite expressions too! excited to read more :>
